About

Hi. I’m Becca. Nice to meet you, however you got here.

To date, thanks to the BRCA2 gene mutation, I’ve had 9 surgeries since December 2009. Everything was going pretty smoothly until reconstruction came along. And some days, I whine. And some days, I complain. But most days, I just feel really GD lucky to be here.

And because I am here, I can walk. And I grabbed four of the best women you’ll ever meet to walk with me. Susan, Shannon, Holly and Jenny. They are unwavering in their support, and more importantly, they make me laugh like crazy. And we’ll need a lot to laugh about for 60 miles! (Who are we kidding, Jenny will bring a Vespa.)

This is my walking blog. Sometimes a surgery blog. And sometimes a whatever-I-want-it-to-be blog. I hope it touches one or two of you, like the stories of women I meet touch me.

I am ready to find a Cure. And if I can help by walking, then walking it is.

Becca

*My husband John. And hello! That’s me with him.

We are off to the RO-DEE-O! This is, apparently, what you do when you marry a Phoenix native.

*This is our son, Xia. (SHY-uh. Yeah yeah, it’s a tough name, but he came with it.)

Objectively, the most kick-ass kid you’ve ever met.
